In Short:
Utrecht Interactive is a space where ideas on new media and urban experience come together. The project was initiated by Media and Culture Studies within the Cultures & Identities research program at Utrecht University. We we work with Vrede van Utrecht in preparation for a string of events planned for the year 2013, which will mark the tricentennial of The Treaty of Utrecht – the first “Global Peace” treaty.

Utrecht Interactive aims to map out current developments and future trends, which could brand this city as technologically and culturally innovative. The goal is to engage the world with Utrecht’s rich historical legacy and place the city on the map again as a space of possibilities. We aim to bring together scholars, urban planners, artists, entrepreneurs and the best IT professionals. We are interested in digital cartographies, data layering, mobile tagging, interactive tours, urban screens, pervasive games, etc. This website traces how current developments in these fields transform urban experience through technology. We are also looking forward to hear from other research centers, authors and developers, working in the Netherlands and elsewhere.
